The blogs which I keep on my Google reader are updated frequently. The blog writers I follow take an active interest in keeping their computer journals lively and inspiring. One blogger, who many in the family know, just recently had profoundly extensive abdominal surgery last week and still he writes. As we all have acknowledged, his writing is beautiful and has helped his readers to understand his experiences as a medical student who has suffered from recurring episodes of cancer.
Sometimes I look around at other blogs that are out there. I have looked at blogs of people who I know, sort of know, and complete strangers. The conclusion I have reached is not so profound. There are people for whom blogging is an expressive outlet, while for others it is a burden. Most have a honeymoon period when lots of novelty applications are used, and then many die on the vine.
I like to write, using my own voice to relate not so important occurrences and thoughts. I try to be careful not to cross the line into self obsession or divulging too much. It helps, during the course of the day, to think of experiences and thoughts in more literary terms. Additionally, I have a sense of obligation to any project which I start and feel that it needs to be worked on and refined. The outcome is that maybe I type a little bit better, but not much.
Miss NB is home from college and then her trip to Europe. It has been an adjustment for both of us to find ourselves in the same house, albeit a fairly large one. We have had some spats but also some fun.
One of our chores is walking the dogs or thinking of ways to avoid it. These two dogs are very difficult on their walks despite completing obedience schools with refresher courses. Pablo wears his special harness to slow him from using his powerful chest to propel and launch his family onto the sidewalk. Jack is low to the ground but pulls hard in every direction. He is more unpredictable temperamentally so I walk him as Miss NB walks Pablo.
Today, after many pleasant errands and lunch at our favorite place, N and I took the dogs for a walk. Down the street Pablo flattened himself out, which is a considerable feat for his bulky frame and went under the fence of a neighbor's lawn. No matter what we did, we could not coax him out. He foraged through the new mulch of the neighbor's bushes and came up with a large meaty piece of skeleton from some unknown deceased animal.
Despite wearing a short dress, N had to (at my recommendation) squeeze through the fence as well and casually walk Pablo through someone else's lawn until they arrived at their steps and exited. Jack tried to attack Pablo multiple times to get him to forfeit the bone. I tried criticizing Pablo and that did not work. Finally he put this dinosaur relic down and NB ran down the street with him. I ran with Jack to get him away from this coveted prize. Their behavior is always horrifying but funny.
Good luck to everyone including the recuperating writer. We have lots of things going on: the start of new medical rotations, interviewing for exciting jobs, courting new clients in the fashion business, and the making of two movies.
