We watched the funeral of the beloved Senator Edward M. Kennedy. Mission Hill where the church service took place is a bustling, traffic-ridden Boston neighborhood though all things came to a halt for the dignitaries who attended the service. It seems like it might be the end of an era, though we have heard younger, politically minded Kennedy's speak at the JFK Library. We will miss our senator greatly here in Massachusetts.One of the things which bound my family in devotion was Teddy's love for his dogs. He had two older Portuguese Water Dogs, Sunny and Splash, and he recently adopted Bo's brother Cappy. There is a blog which NB found about Bo that also talks about Senator Kennedy being a dad to his Porties. We own the book 'My Senator and Me' written by Edward Kennedy about his job and his dogs and how they have intertwined and given meaning to his work day. Knowing how deeply attached Porties become to their families, we know that Senator Kennedy will be deeply missed by them and this tears at our heartstrings. I just let Pablo finish my bowl of vanilla ice cream to commemorate the day.
