The Littlest Knitters are fast becoming comfortable with handling yarn, thinking about what can be done with it, and preparing to complete their first projects.  Several of the girls are switching back and forth from working on French knitting to working with regular single pointed needles.

Miss NB was able to come with me today and she has even become involved with improving her knitting skills.  There is something about the evolution and the progress of the girls which is dazzling to me.  I guess I never really thought that I would be able to move them along so quickly.

NB and I have a definite soft spot for our youngest member.  She came in wearing the most adorable pink skirt and sweater. She told us that she picks out her own outfits and even has her Christmas outfit all set out.  This child has the presence of an adult.  She had an issue that she wanted to discuss with me and was able to state her case and listen to my response with the utmost gravitas.  I speak to children directly and without condescension and we were able to exchange ideas.

Then we talked about the clock and what time it was.  It is so amazing and delightful to hear a child discuss a concept which they've learned and how they manipulate it in their minds to solidify the knowledge.

When the other girls came to join us, we had a lot of vocabulary to discuss.  "Someone told me that only grandmas sit in rocking chairs and knit, " one girl reported.  "That's a stereotype," I told her.  We discussed the meaning of this.  We also talked about words which were hard to pronounce and surprisingly one girl told us that she had trouble with "anemone". The girls did some singing for NB, and even branched off into Beyonce songs.

Upon returning home, there was an email from a member of our Board, promising to push her agenda once again to have CCC merge with another center.  As you know, I fought against this all last year, finally being joined by the church women to defeat this platform and have our president resign.  Now we have a puppet VP who is voice activated by the old regime.

I am proud of myself for forcing this person's hand and having her inadvertently, I think, blow her cover.  The decision has to be made by me about whether to pick up the gauntlet again.  The fighting and arguing seems so messy in contrast to the instruction of knitting which  feels so  unobstructed.
